sliced pears

Father used to bring me sliced pears late in the night
when I would work on Calculus
Or write essays about the use
of figurative language and theme in A Brave New World.

Father, who never said “i love you,”
does not remember integrals, nor the last time he read a book in English;

yet,

sliced pears were the way he knew best.
